Pratical actions to promote food safety

Presentation of FAO's guidance and technical materials

FAO will be presenting some of the guidance and technical materials (tools) they have recently developed to assist countries to improve various aspects of their food quality and safety systems in a side event from 17:30 to 19:30 hours on Tuesday, 6 December 2005, in the Sala Tobosi. The tools to be presented include the following:

  • Training package and manual to assist in Improving the Safety and Quality of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables.
  • Electronic training resource on good hygiene practices along the coffee chain
  • Guidelines for Evaluating National Capacity Building Needs for Food Control
  • International Portal on Food Safety, Animal and Plant Health (www.ipfsaph.org)

Copies of the various tools and more information will be available for distribution during the session and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding these tools. The event will be held with English and Spanish interpretation.
