Codex Training PackageSide Event at the FAO/WHO Global Forum of Food Safety Regulators As part of their effort to assist member countries to participate more effectively in the work of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, FAO and WHO are actively working on the preparation of a training package which will be issued by the end of 2004, in all official languages, and will be distributed to all Member countries. This training package has two purposes. Firstly, it provides a step by step guide for use by countries in the process of establishing their national Codex programmes. Secondly, it provides information which can be used by countries to develop training programmes to suit their specific needs and thus enhance their capability to participate in the work of the Codex Alimentarius Commission. The package identifies and provides information, in the form of modules with relevant visual aids, grouped around distinct themes. This structure provides the flexibility to develop a training programme to meet the needs of a specific country by allowing the organizer of the training to select those modules which contribute to the achievement of the training objective. A presentation of the training package will be made at 12:30 hours on Thursday 14 October 2004 in the ESCAP Hall.
