FAO/WHO Global Fora and Regional Conferences on Food Safety

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are in the process of jointly convening a series of regional food safety conferences/meetings in all the regions of the world to assist Member countries in developing practical action plans to improve food safety and to promote regional cooperation in this field.

These regional events complement the Global Fora of Food Safety Regulators, organised periodically by FAO and WHO to facilitate exchange of information and experiences among food safety authorities on pertinent issues related to food safety management. Regional events have been held in Europe (Feb 2002), Asia and the Pacific (May 2004), the Near East (March 2005) and are also being planned for Africa and for the Americas and the Caribbean.
