Workshop on food safety communication systems. Nitra, 24 - 27 March 2003

On the occasion of the International Conference on "Food Safety and Quality in Transition Countries" FAO and the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra will jointly organize a Workshop on "Internet Portal on Food Safety - Communication systems to ensure food safety and build consumer confidence". This Workshop will focus on the implementation of recommendations of the FAO/WHO Pan-European Conference on Food Safety and Quality (Budapest, February 2002). Invitees from Central and Eastern Europe will discuss the establishment of an Internet Portal for exchange of food safety information in cooperation with the Agroweb Network. They will also examine the conditions for the introduction of food safety alert and response systems like the Food Safety Rapid Alert System of the European Union and the Emerging Risk Identification System.
